Hyundai noted in its media presentation that “trucks and SUVs have taken over the US market, now representing nearly 80 percent share. Any OEM serious about electrification can’t afford to ignore this segment shift.”
Unlike Ford and Chevrolet, Hyundai does not have any immediate plans to launch an all-electric truck though it’s something we shouldn’t rule out further down the road. Having a three-row pure battery-electric SUV will help elevate Hyundai to a currently very exclusive club only consisting of luxury brands like Audi and BMW. No indication was given regarding pricing for either upcoming EV, but as is always the case with Hyundai, expect very competitive figures that’ll rattle the management of rivals.
