The 2022 Toyota Prius has joined the Nightshade pack with a new special edition that features black trim and is available in Midnight Black Metallic, Silver Metallic or Super White exterior colors.
The dark accents were applied to the headlamps, side mirror casings, door handles, deck spoiler and shark fin antenna. They can also be seen on the 15-inch alloy wheels equipping the AWD-e spec, or the 17-inch wheels offered on the FWD car.
Inside, customers will find SoftTex upholstery, semi-gloss and chrome trim, electrically adjustable front seats with heating for the driver, and a heated steering wheel. A 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system is offered as standard, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration and Amazon Alexa compatibility.
A three-month trial subscription for SiriusXM, one-year trial for the Toyota Safety Connect and 10-year trial for the Service Connect, as well as the Wi-Fi Connect with up to 2GB for three months, are also included.
Moreover, the 2022 Prius Nightshade Edition features an auxiliary jack, 12V outlet and three USB ports, wireless charging pad for compatible devices, voice recognition, Bluetooth, Siri Eyes Free, three-door smart key system with push-button start, and 4.2-inch multi-info display for the driver.
The lane departure alert, dynamic radar cruise control, pre-collision system with low-light pedestrian detection, bicyclist detection, automatic high beams and road sign assist are standard as part of the Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 pack.
Powering the special edition Prius are a 1.8-liter four-cylinder Atkinson-cycle gasoline engine and two electric motors. A continuously variable transmission (CVT) channels the thrust to the front or both axles. The FWD variant has an EPA estimated 54/50/52 mpg (4.4/4.7/4.5 l/100 km) in city/highway/combined, and the AWD returns 51/47/49 (4.6/5.0/4.8 l/100 km).
