Lincoln has been a Ford brand since 1922, and for many years it was a competitor of such rarified brands as Packard and Marmon. Very early models featured a V8 engine, but V12 models followed and would power Lincolns through 1948. After the war, the Continental II became the brand's halo, a hand-finished coupe that was stately and eye-wateringly expensive. Lincoln's recent revitalization has centered around the Lincoln Continental and Navigator, both bringing an emphasis on distinctly American luxury (particularly inside) and a sophisticated exterior.
